Motohome Details.
Purchased in February 2008 from Melbourne & European RV's.
Original cost was $156,000 plus on road costs.
Mileage as at May 2012, 57,500.
The motorhome has been regularly serviced by Mercedes-Benz agents on a 20,000 km basis, notwithstanding the Mercedes manuak recommends services at 32,000 intervals.
Comprehensive Mercedes-Benz and Hymer manuals come with the motorhome.
Chassis and Running Fear.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter; 2.2 litre diesel; 5 speed automatic with triptronic; ABS; cruise control; electric heated and operated mirrors; a radio/CD player with two (2) cab speakers and two (2) motorhome speakers.
Motorhome.
Hymer is the only motorhome I am aware of that provides the original purchaser with a six (6) year warranty against leaks.
The body is comprised of aluminium and fibregalss with detachable plastic skirts.
The side panels are aluminium, the paint is impregnated through the aluminium making it easy to retain a high quality finish. The front, rear and roof are fibreglass. The lower sidepanels are plastic attachments allowing cheap replacement in the case of minor damage.
Entry/exit is via two (2) doors. A door on the driver's side, near the middle of the motorhome, with an electrically operated step, operated from either the driver's seat, or near the door.
The driver's side door has an electrially operated step, operable from either the driver's seat or at the door. The door, on the driver's side, is fitted with a concertina fly wire door.
The second door is alongside the passenger's seat. It is alarmed and has an electrically operated window.
A display panel above the driver's side door, displays:-
a) the date and time, that indicate inside and outside temperatures.
b) the state of the cranking and house batteries,
c) the state of the fresh and grey water tanks.
Other information is available by using the menu.
There is fixed sleeping for three (3), and a fourth bed can be made up.
There is a double pull down bed at the front.
There is a single bed at the rear.
The fourth bed can be made up by revolving the table, out of the way, and using the couch on the passenger's side.
The front seats are fully adjustable captain's chairs.
The table adjustment has been modified, and can be used in a very large range of positions. Five people can eat at the table, with the front seats turned round. The original fitting is available, but when in use reduces
the number of positions, in which, the table can be used. Using the made up bed with original fittings in place is more difficult.
Cooking is by a three (3) burner hob, with automatic ignition, and an extractor.
Two 9 kg gas bottles are fitted.
Two (2) groups of three (3) drawers are fitted, on the driver's side, with centre locking. Three each under the cook top and sink.
Refrigeration is by a three (3) way,150 litre, two (2) door Dometic fridge/freezer. It is an automatic energy selection (AES) refrigerator.
A Dometic air-conditioner is fitted.
A large wardrobe is fitted.
A combined heater/boiler is fitted. The heater has nine (9) settings and is ducted to the all parts of the motorhome included the shower/toilet area. The boiler holds 20 litres and has a summer setting, and a winter setting. Using the winter setting automatically activates the boiler.
The heater keeps the motorhome warm overnight, and ensures hot water is available for showers.
The shower/toilet area has two (2) large mirrors. The toilet is a Thretford with water delivery from the motorhome water supply. The shower is self enclosed. Hot air is extracted from the shower area by a large hatch.
The fresh water tank is located internally in the motorhome.
A 19 inch flat screen TV/Video player is fitted replacing the original 17 inch flat screen TV.
A Wynguard aerial is fitted.
A Fiamma 4.5mm awning is fitted.
There are three (3) hatches, two (2) large ones in the living area and the shower/toilet area, and a small one over the rear bed.
All windows and hatches, except the windscreen are fitted with combined roman blinds/fly screens. The widscreen is fitted with roman blinds.
Storage area is large. There are nine (9) internal overhead cupboards, an external slide out (40 kg limit) on the driver's side, and a large garage area at he rear, with access via doors on both sides of the motorhome. Both doors are fitted with child proof locks.Storage area is 2 metres by 1.2metres by .95 metres.
Hymer specify a maximum load of 730 kg for the motorhome..
Modifications and Replacements.
An external windscreen protector is fitted.
The original 80 A.H. deep cycle battery was replaced with two (2) 120 A.H. batteries, total capacity 240 A.H's in October 2011.
The cranking battery was replaced in April 2012.
Two (2) solar panels, capacity 205 W are fitted. A 125W panel was fitted in 2008, supplemented by an 80W panel when the house battery capacity was increased to 240 A.H.'s in October 2011.
The original 17 inch flat screen TV has been replaced by a 19 inch flat screen TV/Video player.
Most 12V interior light bulbs have been replaced with LED bulbs.
There are other minor modifications such as re-routing the exhaust system to exit near the rear on the driver's side, a grab handle fitted outside the passenger's side door, and a vinyl picture of Wineglass Bay on the rear of the motorhome.
